NEWS FLASH : November 1st, 2008
SULTRY vampires and bloody ghouls paraded themselves at Dracula's cabaret restaurant at Broadbeach as it was given new life, and death, with a $5 million revamp.

The end of the 12-month reconstruction was celebrated with a gala launch called 'A Vampire Rising', which began its reign of terror last night and will continue over the Halloween weekend with shows each night.Animatronic monsters, hologram ghosts and a 'spook coaster' are part of the new look for the cabaret restaurant, which now has an eccentric, baroque design.
Among the malicious monsters are a skeletal musical trio that strike up a tune behind a stage of bones, and a fortune teller.
Dracula's creative director, Marc Newman, said all the new features were designed to make it a more interactive experience.
The roof of the castle that houses Dracula's was raised 5m to accommodate giant bone chandeliers.
Mr Newman said the expensive new look was despite the economic hard times.
"Last time we did a major revamp was in the '86 recession. Often a business hibernates and consolidates, but for us it presents an opportunity, an opportunity for us to say 'we're here to stay'," he said.
The renovation took place without the restaurant closing; the new venue was built on top of the old theatre.
It is a far cry from the squash court which occupied the site in 1985.
